Abstract: The paper presents the results of geoecological – pedological research on chromium (Cr) concentrations in the soil of Tuzla and the possibility of its remediation via phytoextraction, phytostabilisation and phytoreduction methods. The terrain work included the collection of 240 soil samples from an area of 303 km2. The samples were analysed by Inductively Coupled Plasma–Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS), and the results were used to examine the concentrations and to show the spatial distribution of chromium in the area of Tuzla.

Chromium concentrations in the soil of the city of Tuzla range from 67 ppm-1592 ppm, and out of 240 in total of the analyzed soil samples, chromium concentrations were elevated in 239 of them. The possibility of phytoremediation was evaluated and the results were presented in this paper.
